A Night of Worship

On March 25th we hosted A Night of Worship at the Renton Ikea Performing Arts Center to raise money for Costa Rica. Our Junior Praise team leader, Cindy Imm, opened the night with a couple songs and the body worship team from Tacoma New Life performed two numbers. We also had the lovely Aileen Park speak to us about Costa Rica. The remainder of the night was spent in worship, led by the Mercy Worship band.

The event itself was great but God did some pretty amazing things beyond the actual Night of Worship.

It all started back in November of 2016 when Pastor Younger went to a Korean concert that was at the Ikea Renton Performing arts center. He thought it would be a great place to hold the benefit concert and loved the idea of bringing worship to a place that usually isn’t filled with God’s praise. Everyone was for the idea and agreed that deciding to hold the benefit concert at the Performing Arts Center requires a big leap of faith. We had no guarantee that we’d be able to sell enough tickets to make a profit for Project Compassion. Just to cover the cost of renting the place, we would have had to sell at least 200 tickets. During this time of uncertainty, God encouraged us to trust in Him and reminded us that regardless of the money we might raise there is victory in sharing the gospel.

Before long, the day of the concert arrived. Although we were hoping to fill the 500 seat auditorium, a little less than 200 people attended. It didn’t look as though we were going to raise very much at this event. However, God provided in the most amazing way! When we added everything up, we were somehow able to cover the cost of renting the venue AND raise $2,249! Praise the Lord!

It’s crazy to think that even back in November God had this planned out. This might be kind of an obvious thing but I’m always floored whenever I see God’s sovereignty in action.

Here’s to God’s awesome goodness and to everyone who’s been supporting us. Thank you!
